        September 3:      Introduction: The Future of the Internet

• Read pages 1-61, 101-26, & 149-52 (that's chapters 1, 2, 3 & 5 and the introduction to part III) of Jonathan Zittrain's new book The Future of The Internet and How to Stop It.  The entire book is available online (for free) at http://futureoftheinternet.org/static/ZittrainTheFutureoftheInternet.pdf ; there's also a single copy on reserve.

• Visit the Peacefire home page. Look around.
• Use a search engine to find something on the Internet that you believe that folks (or, in the alternative, children under 12) should be prevented from seeing.  You need not limit yourself to pornography; you might (or might not) be more concerned about hate speech, dangerous medical advice, instructions for building weapons of mass destruction, consumer fraud, privacy invasions, or copyright infringement. Be prepared to discuss what you've found.
